Other countries have different tooth traditions. Some countries do similar things to what you may do, but some do very odd and rare things. I'm going to tell you about two countries I choose, i'm also gonna compare them with what I do. One I think is interesting is Ancient Abyssinia. In Ancient Abyssinia they used to throw their lost tooth to a howling hyena... Now that sounds dangerous. Another one I want to tell you about is Sweden. In Sweden they put there tooth in a glass of water, when they wake up in the morning there tooth is replaced with a coin. At my home when I loose a tooth I put my tooth under my pillow, when I wake up in the morning money has replaced the coin. We call this the Tooth Fairy. In case you don't know what the Tooth Fairy is I will tell you. The Tooth Fairy is a fairy that takes our teeth from out of underneath of our pillow and she gives us money. The Tooth Fairy is like Santa and the Easter Bunny, expect she only comes when you loose your tooth. There is one more country I would like to tell you about which is, China. In china kids put there lower teeth on the roof and there upper teeth on the foot of there bed. They hope that this will help make there permanent teeth grow in faster. Now I would like to try that. I hope you enjoyed my blog post of today. Have a good day, Goodbye!
Here is my weekly vocabulary video. My 5 words are inequality, negotiate, inspiration, injustice, plight. Hope you enjoy. Here is my weekly vocabulary video. Hope you enjoy. Our words are - Gloat , Fame , Agitated , Dubious , and Confrontational. This unit we are focusing on poetry. Today we looked through books of poems, I choose a poem by Shel Sliverstein called Molly's Folly. I like the rhythm and rhyming scheme of this poem. Here is a picture of the poem. The poems rhyming scheme is really good I like it a lot. It goes "AABACACADAAAAA". A rhyming scheme is the words at the end that rhyme. If the last word in the second line doesn't rhyme with the last word on the first line you go to the next letter in the alphabet. Say the last word in the last line rhymes with the last word in the first line they would both be considered "A". I hope you like this poem as much as I did.
Here is my weekly vocabulary video with my 4 words. Hope you enjoy. In social studies we picked a colony and made a commercial. We are telling you about everything Rhode Island has. We are convincing you to move there. Here is our commercial. This week we have been working on the elements of plot. We have watched some Pixar videos, We make a story mountain based on the video. We also have read some books to make a story mountain too. Some of the books we have read have our weekly vocabulary words in them. We have been focusing on 4 words which are - Avid, Hoist, Dub, and Fling. We made a video to go along with our vocabulary words. In my video you will see the word, 2 pictures, 3 synonyms, and the defination. Here is my video... Hope you enjoy. This week Mr. Glade gave us 4 words and we had to find the defintions, synonyms and 2 pictures to fit each word. The words were permission, embraced, clung, and peering. Some words we knew some were knew. We also did a thing were you have to make these shapes depending on the word and you cant move you have to stay still and the class has to guess the word. Below is my Animoto of the words. Today we focused on pie charts in Math. We did a pie chart using Skittles. Mr.Glade gave us 10 skittles in a cup and we used the data from the cup and recorded it. Then he choose 10 people and we added up there data and we got higher numbers. My data was kinda accurate to the whole class data. We deiced that a larger sample is more accurate then a smaller sample, because the bigger the sample the closer you get to knowing the actual data. Here are the pie charts we made showing our data and the classes data. This is the class combined sample. This one was out of 100%. We figured that out by adding up all the data. This was my data from the 10 Skittles in the cup. Some of my percentages were higher then the classes percentages. Some were almost exactly the same. Some were only 2 or 3 percent off.
We made crystals yesterday. At the end I will tell you the materals you would need to make them. In science were studying crystals and there properties.
