Our first field trip was the Capitol. The Capitol was very beautiful. Did you know that there was a fire in the capitol? In 1904 there was a fire in the Capitol, it was started by a candle being left lite and falling over. The guy that was gonna fix it was looking for damage in the attic above the room and he fell and died. That is my favorite fact about our capitol. My favorite room in the capitol is probably the library. The library has 5 stories, and all off them are FILLED with LAW books. THAT'S A LOT OF LAW BOOKS!! Any ways I think the library is cool because it has a dumbwaiter, those are hard to find now a days. Also in my opinion the library is the most beautiful place in the capitol. Another part I like about the capitol is the dome. The dome is cool and if you look up there's a banner with the flag on it. Also the flag is hanging on wires but if you standing on the 2nd floor you cant tell, but if your in the dome its easy to see. Behind the banner there's a painting of the sky and clouds and it looks like its really outside. Another really cool part about the capitol is the case with the dolls of the first lady's. I think that was a cool creation. It would also probably be hard and a lot of time taken to make all those dolls look exactly like they did at the ball. Even though I went on a field trip to the capitol last year, I think I enjoyed it more this year. The capitol is a very cool place. Below will be pictures of some of the things I mentioned.
Our next field trip was to the Art Museum and the Sculpture Park. We saw a lot of different things at both places. We also did projects on some the artist of the paintings and sculptures, and they looked totally different in person. I think that if we wouldn't have done the project before going I think we would have got less out of the trip. Also we wouldn't be able to compare what the painting or sculpture looked like on the internet compared to how much cooler it looked in person. My favorite sculpture was "The White Ghost" because it was really cool. I think the mood of it was interesting. It looked lonely and sad. I also liked the "The Spider". Also learning about all these pieces were fun. It was interesting to learn where they got there inspiration. Like learning about the sculpture of the table and chairs and how it was sitting in their yard before it was at the sculpture park. Now the Art Museum. My favorite was "From the Lake No.1" . Not because it was Georgia's piece but because it looked way better in person then it did on the internet. When you see it in person you can see all the different value. Also in person you can tell that she started with sketching the different shapes of the sky and waves, like its not totally noticeable but if you get really close you can tell. I love the way her piece looks in person it looks very unique and creative, also in person you can tell how she got the inspiration and if you were there the inspiration would probably look identical to the painting. Another one I likes was called "Untitled" by Anselm Kiefer. It was inspired by the war. There are lots of details to it. If you look really close to it you can see railroad tracks in it. But if your not focused enough on it you wont be able to tell. It also has wires in it and a ladder. That painting was probably my second favorite. I will have pictures below of some of the things I talked about.
If you ever are bored or looking for a place to go, these 3 places that I mentioned are very fun to be at. I highly suggest one day in the summer or a day your bored you should go to one of these places. I hope you enjoyed my blog post!
